Development of Information Technology Based Media and Teaching Materials for Islamic Education

This study aims to examine the development of information technology-based teaching media and materials for Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and to understand their impact on IRE learning in the digital age. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach employing in-depth interviews and observations of IRE teachers and students at several junior high schools in West Bangka Regency. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and relationships between the use of technology-based media and the learning process. The results indicate that the use of technology in PAI instruction has a positive impact on students’ motivation and engagement with the subject matter. Applications such as Quizizz, Google Classroom, and video conferencing platforms enable students to learn in a more interactive and self-directed manner. However, challenges faced in developing technology-based PAI media include limited technological infrastructure, such as uneven internet access, as well as the lack of readiness among some teachers to utilize technology to its full potential. This study also highlights the importance of technology in enhancing the effectiveness of communication between teachers and students, as well as improving students’ understanding of Islamic religious education content. Therefore, the recommendations from this study are the need for further training for PAI teachers in effectively using technology-based media, as well as improvements to school technology infrastructure to support more inclusive and efficient learning. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the future development of PAI education, emphasizing the importance of utilizing technology to create learning experiences that are more innovative and relevant to contemporary developments.
