The Influence of Village Teacher Lectures on the Religious Behavior of Adolescents in Payabenua Village, West Mendo District

This research is motivated by the decline in the quality of religious behavior among adolescents in the midst of globalization and rapid developments in information technology. Many adolescents are experiencing a decrease in interest in performing religious practices such as prayer, showing less respect toward parents and teachers, and being influenced by a free lifestyle that contradicts religious teachings. Phenomena such as promiscuity, the loss of modesty, a low sense of responsibility toward religious values, and weak spiritual awareness have become real problems in the lives of today’s youth. The method used in this study is a quantitative associative approach. The sample consisted of 40 adolescents who actively participated in religious study sessions in Payabenua Village, selected using a saturated sampling technique. The instrument used was a Likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability to ensure data accuracy. The results of simple linear regression analysis show that the village teacher’s religious study sessions do not have a significant effect on adolescents’ religious behavior, with a significance value of 0.605 (p > 0.05) and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.007. These findings indicate that although the village teacher’s religious study sessions are valuable in religious guidance, other factors outside the study sessions have a greater influence on adolescents’ religious behavior. Thus, the null hypothesis (H₀) is accepted, and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) is rejected.
