Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of adaptive learning based on artificial intelligence (AI) technology at Pondok Pesantren Madinatul Munawwarah in Bukittinggi City. The research employs a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design, in which quantitative data were collected through a survey of 28 students (santri), while qualitative data were obtained through interviews with teachers and students as well as direct observations. The findings indicate that the implementation of adaptive learning in the pesantren has been effective and has received positive responses from the majority of students. Approximately 85% of respondents stated that technology-based learning, such as the use of instructional videos, computer laboratories, and Google Forms, has helped improve their understanding and learning motivation. However, several challenges remain, including limited facilities and infrastructure, unstable internet access, and teachers’ readiness to utilize technology. This study recommends enhancing technological infrastructure, providing regular teacher training, and implementing flexible policies regarding the use of digital devices within the pesantren environment to optimize the implementation of adaptive learning.
