Communication crises in marital relationships are among the leading causes of domestic conflict, often resulting in a decline in relationship quality or even divorce. This study aims to explore the experiences of married couples in dealing with communication crises and to examine the role of family counseling in managing such conflicts. Using a qualitative approach and phenomenological method, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five couples in the Bangka Belitung region who had participated in family counseling sessions. The findings reveal three main themes: the inability to actively listen, unrealistic expectations toward the partner, and imbalance in relationship roles. The counseling process provided a reflective space and learning experience for the couples to rebuild healthier communication patterns. The study shows that family counseling, when delivered empathetically and contextually, can serve as an effective intervention to improve marital communication dynamics. This research contributes to the development of family counseling practices and emphasizes the importance of culturally grounded psychological interventions in strengthening family resilience.
